Want Extra Cash This Summer? Illinois Might Owe You Money

If you live in Illinois, you might get unexpected cash this summer without lifting a finger, thanks to the state’s Enhanced Money Match program.

What Is the Enhanced Money Match Program?

The Illinois State Treasurer’s Office is actively returning unclaimed money to residents automatically.

Instead of having to search and file claims, the program uses advanced data matching to identify residents who are owed money and sends them a check directly.

Since 2018, the program has sent back over $130 million to 870,000 Illinois residents.

How Much Money Could You Get?

This summer, the state is sending out $45 million to around 600,000 residents:

  • Most checks will be $50 or less

  • Some residents with multiple claims may receive larger amounts

You’ve earned certain benefits! Make sure you’re getting them here.

How the Program Works

  • The Treasurer’s Office uses a secure database to identify people owed money.

  • Once confirmed, you receive a letter explaining the payment details.

  • A check is then mailed directly to your address.

You do not need to apply or fill out forms to receive the check if you are selected.

How to Check If You Have Unclaimed Money

While you can wait for your check to arrive, you can also check right now if you have unclaimed funds.
